Position Summary:

The HIV and Aging Nurse Educator (Part-time, Hourly) will lead state-wide efforts to develop and improve educational materials for both providers and consumers on HIV and Aging as part the VCU HIV Education Program's Capacity-building Grant funded by the Virginia Department of Health. This position is being funded to support the state-wide HIV and Aging Initiative Pilot Program. The HIV and Aging Nurse Educator will work collaboratively with and serve as a liaison between other health educators and clinicians at the Infectious Disease Clinic of the Virginia Commonwealth University, the Virginia Department of Health (VDH), the VCU HIV Education Program, and the MidAtlantic AIDS Education and Training Center (MAAETC) to accomplish these goals. This is a part-time, hourly position with a maximum of 15 hours per week.

Core Responsibilities: Training materials include various content that are a necessary part of any training program or activity that involves Virginia Ryan White HIV and Aging Collaborative Initiative.

·Responsibility 1 (10 %) Facilitate HIV and Aging Educational Material Workgroup

o Task 1: Coordinate meeting dates and times with relevant stakeholders

o Task 2: Facilitate meetings by sending agendas, taking meeting minutes, and identifying action items to be completed by workgroup members

o Task 3: Send meeting minutes and updates to funders

·Responsibility 2 (10 %): Conduct a needs analysis (Consumer/providers) to identify needed materials and quantities.

o Task 1: Identify survey questions for consumers/providers with input from relevant experts and stakeholders.

o Task 2: Identify what target groups absolutely need to know to achieve the key HIV and aging initiative objectives.

o Task 3: Quantify the numbers of needed materials based off of stakeholder feedback

·Responsibility 3 (30%):Review, evaluate, and select content of the materials (inventory of the content to be covered)

o Task 1: Assess the quality of existing training content and look for ways to improve it.

o Task 2: Gather subject matter expertise / institutional knowledge / literature review

o Task 3: Identify what training materials already exist and it's efficacy. For example – presentations, documents, manuals, and videos.

o Task 4: Identify what existing materials are complete in terms of containing all the necessary content.

·Responsibility 4 (15%):Determine delivery methods, picking multimedia learning asset to disseminate education materials.

o Task 1: Video (Recorded live and animation)

o Task 2: Live online, presentations

o Task 3: Print materials and handouts

· Responsibility 5 (15%):Facilitate the approval process of developed/selected education materials.

o Task 1: Coordinate funder and subject matter expert approval of finalized educational materials

o Task 2: Coordinate funder and subject matter expert approval of finalized delivery modalities

o Task 3: Coordinate video recordings, and printing of content

· Responsibility 6 (10%):Collect and summarize feedback

o Task 1: Using qualitative and quantitative measures, collect feedback from consumers & providers on the efficacy and usefulness of materials.

o Task 2: Formalize feedback into summary reports for funders

·Responsibility 7 (10%): Case Management Training

o Task 1: Provide training for annual Foundations of Case Management and Ryan White Part B Case Management Standards Classes.

o Task 2: Provide recommendations for updates to case management training based on feedback from relevant stakeholders.

Minimum Hiring Standards:

· Active RN license in the Commonwealth of Virginia

· 10+ years in direct practice in HIV settings

· 5+ year experience in clinical education planning and implementation

· Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU.

Preferred Qualifications:

· Greater than 10 years' experience in HIV education and direct practice.
