Position Summary:

As a Junior Project Manager with PMP certification, you will play a pivotal role in project coordination, management, and implementation for the VCU Massey Comprehensive Cancer Center Administration Team. Reporting to a project manager, you will be responsible for non-cyclical and varied initiatives, aligning them with the project management life cycle and supporting business priorities. Additionally, you will perform tasks such as research and analysis, providing updates to the team and collaborating with managers on complex initiatives. The successful candidate for this position will work closely with the project management team, center leadership, researchers, administrators, and other stakeholders to plan, execute, and deliver complex projects in a timely and cost-effective manner.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Prioritize numerous initiatives while ensuring their successful completion with minimal direction.
  • Develop and maintain professional relationships with key stakeholders to assure success.
  • Prepare and maintain records, meeting minutes, reports, and presentation materials.
  • Synthesize large complex customer business and technical requirements into manageable pieces, lead internal and external customer meetings, develop comprehensive proposal and implementation project schedules, and meet deadlines.
  • Performing quality control on the project throughout development to maintain the standards expected.
  • Define project goals, objectives, scope, timing, and resources in collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Plan and oversee day-to-day project activities, monitoring progress towards goals.
  • Work with both internal and external customers on a daily basis, and deliver customer and executive briefings on a variety of topics including status updates, technical issues; solutions, pricing and scheduling timelines.
  • Perform project work, including analysis, as part of project roles and responsibilities.
  • Apply continuous improvement methodologies throughout the project management lifecycle.
  • Assist Project Manager with oversight of vendor contracts, evaluating technical performance and adherence to requirements.
  • Monitor and control impact to project scopes and budgets, communicating potential impacts to stakeholders.
  • Perform project close-out steps, identifying lessons learned to inform the success of future projects.
Minimum Hiring Standards
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Project Management, Healthcare Administration, or related field.
  • Two years of effective program/project management experience required.
  • Experience in project and financial management desired.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of quality of work under pressure with hard deadlines and commitment to deliverables.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office and a strong understanding of system development, database management techniques.
  • Excellent English skills (both verbal and written), organizational skills, time management, prioritizing tasks, detail-oriented, and multi-tasking required.

Preferred Hiring Standards
  • PMP or LSS certification preferred.
Salary Range: commensurate with experience, starting at $52,000
