Position Responsibilities:
The Department of Chemical and Life Science Engineering of the College of Engineering seeks culturally and professionally diverse candidates to apply for the Research Associate position. Since its inception in 1996, the Virginia Commonwealth University College of Engineering has brought innovative, real-world engineering education to Central Virginia. Comprised of five different departments plus the Dean's office, the College of Engineering enrolls more than 1,700 undergraduate and 250 graduate students in several degree programs supported by approximately 600 full-time, part-time, and student employees. The Research Associate will be responsible for the day-to-day activities required to support the research goals of the soft materials laboratory. Specifically, duties include:
-Experimental design development, method development, data analysis and interpretation, manuscript preparation and grant development
-Execute prescribed tasks as outlined by supervisor in a timely and organized manner
-Assist research personnel with experiments and analysis
-Compile results of experiments and regularly report to supervisor
-Carry out other research-related duties as needed
-Part-time, non-benefited position limited to 28 hours per week
Required Qualifications:
-Degree in science or engineering
-Wet lab experience
-Ability to work in diverse and dynamic environment

Preferred Qualifications:
-Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science or closely related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
-Proficiency in Microsoft Office
-Familiarity with the research process and principles of research design
-Ability to meet deadlines and manage time effectively
-English proficiency (written and oral)
-Excellent interpersonal, organizational, time management, and communication skills
-Ability to present and articulate complex concepts orally
