Mission or Goal of Unit: The mission of the Department of Radiology is to create a world-class department by providing optimal care in a patient-centered environment, providing sub-specialty expertise, providing top quality imaging and therapeutic procedures, and to advance medical education and research, with a vision to create a department that is recognized as top tier nationally and internationally.
Chief Purpose of this position: We are seeking candidates for a faculty position in the Division of Interventional Radiology to provide a wide array of arterial, venous, genitourinary, hepatobiliary procedures and other services to a sophisticated referral base in an 865 bed, Level 1 Trauma Center. Responsibilities also include expansion of current services and continued multidisciplinary collaboration. The IR physicians see and treat patients both on the downtown campus as well as a state-of-the-art outpatient multidisciplinary vascular center. In addition, the department recently completed a major renovation which includes 5 brand new IR procedure rooms and a 25 bed recovery unit dedicated to IR.
Position Responsibilities:
- Teaching – Provide training to medical students, residents and fellows, who rotate through the Department of Radiology.
- Research - Maintain professional relationships established with the Departments of Vascular and Transplant Surgery as well as other clinical departments and subspecialty programs to foster interdisciplinary research.
- Service – Time and effort is expected to be devoted to academic service-related activities. This shall include college, school, and departmental committee work, professional growth, and other such assignments.
- Clinical – Provide high quality, sub-specialized vascular and interventional radiology procedures and imaging interpretations for assigned modalities in support of the referring physicians and patients of VCUHS.
- ABR certification or documentation of passing core component of the ABR examination
- Fellowship trained in Vascular and Interventional Radiology
- Candidates must have a current license to practice medicine in Virginia or the ability to qualify for licensure
- Candidates must demonstrate experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff and student environment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU
- And be eligible for permanent employment in the USA
