The Virginia Department of General Services, Division of Real Estate & Facilities Management (DREFM), Bureau of Facilities Management (BFM), is recruiting for a Building Control Center Technician to monitor, adjust, and maintain a comfortable and safe environment through the facilities' Building Automation Systems (BAS) and customer interaction. This position is the first responder to alarm conditions and therefore responsible for both dispatching appropriate response personnel and troubleshooting applicable systems for possible remote intervention. Advises building maintenance and emergency staff by receiving and dispatching calls, requests for assistance, and reports of routine situations by recording and generating work orders through the work order management system. Must be able to respond quickly, accurately, and efficiently during emergency situations, while maintaining a high level of professionalism.
The selected candidate must be willing to work independently on rotating 12-hour shifts; weekends, holidays, and during office closings due to inclement weather. A high school diploma, or equivalent, is required. A general understanding of building automation systems (BAS). Basic experience /understanding in HVAC and/or Electrical equipment and how it is controlled and alarmed. Basic computer skills such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and email. Demonstrated ability to follow oral and written instructions and procedures as well as communicate effectively with customers and other trades staff. Must have attention to detail; excellent decision making; ability to prioritize, work independently and sit for extended periods of time; have a calm, patient demeanor; and be willing and able to increase BAS knowledge base. Experience in customer service, a call center, or a dispatcher is preferred. Experience using AIM work order system is preferred.
