Job Description |
The Department of General Services, Division of Real Estate & Facilities Management (DREFM), Bureau of Facilities Management (BFM) is a customer-focused organization whose primary function is to provide a quality environment for the approximately 75 state agencies that occupy the facilities overseen by DGS. BFM provides its customers effective and timely operational, maintenance, and repair services. BFM is responsible for over 40 buildings and operates and maintains about 6.45 million square feet of buildings and grounds at the seat of government. BFM strives to ensure tenants enjoy a clean, safe, efficient, and comfortable environment in and around the buildings it manages. We are seeking to fill two Housekeeping Inspectors. These positions provide a clean, safe & healthy environment for tenants occupying facilities owned by the Commonwealth of Virginia. The position conducts walk throughs of assigned properties to physically inspect contract custodial services that are performed by the contract vendor. Minimum Qualifications |
The selected candidate must be able to work 3:45 p.m. to 11:45 p.m., some weekend and holiday work is required. Valid Virginia driver’s license required (or obtained within 60 days of employment if licensed in another state). Qualifications include knowledge and training of cleaning techniques, methods, materials, and equipment for a wide variety of surfaces and materials. Knowledge of safety practices in the use of cleaning chemicals and supplies is essential. Knowledge and training in the operation of power cleaning equipment, such as floor buffers and vacuums. Training in the evaluation of stripping, waxing, and shampooing floors for thorough completion. Strong interpersonal, communication, and conflict management skills. Must have the ability to evaluate the work of contract personnel and to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Applicant must be able to routinely lift, push, or pull 20 pounds and occasionally lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds. |
Preferred Qualifications |
Previous supervisory and/or housekeeping inspection experience is preferred. High School Diploma or equivalent is preferred. |
