SENIOR CLOUD ENGINEER

This important role will drive the evolution of infrastructure across the enterprise, to help grow and protect Virginia Housing’s business and requires insight into emerging cloud technology and business trends, an understanding of security threats and risks, and strong knowledge of current technology standards, frameworks and best practices. Solid technical infrastructure experience, strong project management acumen, excellent vendor management skill, plus a superior, service-oriented approach to operations is expected.
Responsibilities will include:
- Translate Virginia Housing’s cloud strategy into a highly available and secure cloud implementation in accordance with best practices as outlined by the cloud provider
- Works closely with Cloud Architect to analyze and define business requirements and to determine specifications and standards; proposes and develops cloud solutions
- Assesses Virginia Housing’s technology infrastructure and explore options for migrating to a public cloud
- Overseeing the different stages of cloud migration in coordination with Infrastructure Manager and Cloud Service Provider
- Installs and maintains cloud-based applications, systems, or associated infrastructures
- Deploys and oversees SaaS implementations such as Office 365, ensuring that appropriate information security standards and best practices are applied
- Assisting with developing and implementing policies for the use of cloud services, managing requests for new technology, establishing a secure cloud environment, and ensuring appropriate availability of cloud services
- Reviewing, observing, and managing the operational workflow in SaaS and IaaS environments
Qualified candidates must possess:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or related field, or equivalent work experience
- Many years of hands-on experience with cloud computing and/or data center infrastructure engineering
- Experience with deploying enterprise-scale applications using Azure Cloud Platform (SaaS), including the use case for SaaS platforms
- Experience participating on multi-discipline, high-performance work teams/groups in an Agile environment
- Demonstrated success developing and implementing new technology and processes, including design, and implementation of Storage and/or Virtual server infrastructure
- Successfully worked with customers to develop effective solutions to diverse and complex business problems
Preferred experience includes Cloud certifications in AWS or Azure.

Hiring Range: $95,308 – $123,897
