DRIVE Tourism+ Program Intern

Richmond, Virginia

The Virginia Tourism Corporation (VTC) is seeking an intern for the Partnership Marketing Division to support the Director of Operations & Industry Initiatives from September 16, 2024 – March 7, 2025.

 

Responsibilities

  • Provide competitive analysis for (10) participating Virginia communities in the DRIVE Tourism+ grant program.
  • Analysis will include, but not limited to, the study of competition visitor demographics, brand, target audiences and feeder markets, budget/funding sources, marketing campaigns/initiatives, and tourism development programs.
  • Identify areas or opportunities for strategic development or growth for DRIVE Tourism+ communities.
  • Position may require in person attendance and support at DRIVE Tourism+ community workshops in Virginia.
  • Report ongoing findings to Director of Operations & Industry Initiatives virtually (Zoom or Microsoft Teams) or in-person at VTC Offices (901 E. Cary St. Richmond, VA 23219).
  • Attend scheduled and ad hoc meetings with VTC DRIVE Tourism+ team.
  • Timely turnaround of research information with a varying schedule of due dates. Research reports will be typed and provided to Director of Industry Operations & Initiatives ahead of each of the 10 workshops.

 

Skills

  • Ability to work effectively in a remote setting with minor oversight or supervision.
  • Experience with research techniques and procedures.
  • Proficient in data visualization.
  • Demonstrated skills in the use of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to provide timely updates as needed.
  • Day/overnight travel within Virginia may be required for this position.

 

Experience

  • Understanding of, experience, and/ or interest in tourism, economic development, or research preferred but not required.
