MOBILE MUSEUM PROJECT MANAGER

Richmond, Virginia

The Virginia Tourism Corporation (VTC) is seeking a Project Manager to manage a hands-on, interactive, and immersive “museum on wheels,” the VA250 Mobile Museum Experience titled “Out of Many, One.” It will be housed in a quad-expandable tractor trailer that will travel throughout Virginia and beyond, starting this Fall. The mobile museum will bring key stories of Virginia’s rich history to schools, museums, local events, fairs, and more, highlighting every region of the state.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the deployment and operations of the VA250 Mobile Museum Tour
  • Supervise VA250 Mobile Museum Education Specialist and part-time staff
  • Collaborate with the Commission and VTC staff to develop an operations and logistics manual for the Mobile Museum Tour program
  • Oversee/administer any retail operations/donation collections associated with the Mobile Museum Tour
  • Prepare monthly reports tracking event results and overall program progress
  • Assist with public relations and social media and work with hosting organizations to coordinate media coverage of tour visits as needed
  • Manage required vehicle and trailer maintenance

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Proficiency using multiple software packages including Microsoft Office Suite

 

Experience:

  • At least two years’ experience in marketing, hospitality, event management, or related field preferred
  • Experience dealing with media is a plus
  • Awareness of the sociological and political aspects of the American Revolution and the founding of our nation
  • Valid Virginia driver’s license and clean driving record required
  • Experience driving a ¾ ton truck or greater with trailer; considerable travel within Virginia and surrounding states, up to 40 weeks per year
