Install/Config/Maintain: Currently supported technology

Troubleshoot: Basic related to configuration, installation and maintenance

Create & Design: Student worker schedules, basic web content

Monitor: Technologies via available pre-configured monitoring tools

Lead/Team Role: No “lead” role but may organize and train student workers

 

Examples of Work Performed              

Work in a collaborative environment with a team of IT professionals, contributing your experience and expertise to accomplish the strategic IT goals of Wayne State College. Performs a variety of professional duties in support of the day-to-day operations of the Network and Technology Services (NATS) department. Provides tier 2 troubleshooting of related technologies for incidents not resolved during first point of contact at the tier 1 Service Center. Assists the Client Services team members with daily operational activities supporting academic technologies including, but not limited to, the campus learning management system, video capture and management, classroom technologies, and other existing teaching and learning related technologies.

This is a full-time staff position within the Client Services team in the Network and Technology Services (NATS) Department. This position collaborates daily with NATS team members, vendors, campus employees and students. Activities performed by this position include but are not limited to the following below.

  • Troubleshooting issues within the campus learning management system, classroom technologies, and other academic related systems.
  • Assist with campus learning management system (Canvas) processes for term rollover.
  • Assist with maintenance of academic related technology systems including, but not limited to, scheduled activities and processes, upgrades, and updating documentation.
  • Provide training for existing instructional / academic technologies.
  • Assist with venue support for academic related events and other campus events.
  • Collaborate with supervisor, CIO, and NATS team members to coordinate and document primary and secondary responsibilities for software, hardware, process, activity, or other support requirements necessary to maintain availability of services to the campus community according to the IT Business Continuity plan.
  • Mentor NATS student workers for completion of lower-level tasks that are repeatable, documented, and auditable.
  • Collaborate with Client Services team, Service Center, and campus stakeholders to improve incident, problem, and request management processes.
  • Provide training and support to WSC faculty and staff as needed.
  • Engage IT leadership to communicate status and manage priorities regarding work assignments.
  • Participate in change control processes and meetings.

Other duties as assigned that are pertinent to the goals and mission of the IT department and the college.

Required Qualifications          

Associate degree in related field or two year’s related work experience.

Preferred Qualifications         

Bachelor’s degree in related field.

Salary Information     

Competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Attractive and comprehensive fringe benefit package. Annual salary is $45,720.
