This position assists eligible veterans in a comprehensive program to facilitate successful transition into post-secondary study by providing individual and academic advising, data management, file maintenance and documentation of student eligibility, services, participation and progress. This position may be required to periodically work evenings and weekends. Some local travel is required.

Essential Duties

The following list is not intended as, nor should it be construed as, exhaustive of all responsibilities, skills or working conditions associated with this position.

  • Manages program databases, associated tracking sheets and related administrative forms; completes data entry and filing; conducts routine audits and reconciliation of program data; creates and prepares reports capturing program data; and conducts regular assessments of program objectives status
  • Provides direct services to VUB participants, including intake, assessment, advising, tutoring, and coaching; assists participants with obtaining military transcripts, applying for VA education benefits, and submitting the FAFSA financial aid application; refers participants to local community service providers, VA and institutional resources as appropriate; and prepares and maintains all required documentation
  • Recruits offsite and onsite; certifies eligibility and assists director in determining and executing participant program enrollment; communicates with internal and external service providers in recruitment and provision of service efforts
  • Creates and seeks out educational content for delivery to participants in alignment with project requirements, and coordinates for delivery and sometimes personally delivers the prescribed educational content via the appropriate platform
  • Records and tracks participant contacts on appropriate forms to include documentation of assessments, tutoring and supply issue
  • Performs other duties as assigned

 

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Two years of work experience, including experience overcoming barriers similar to those experienced by project participants
  • Excellent computer and Microsoft Office skills including Excel, PowerPoint and Publisher
  • Organizational, mathematical and human relations skills
  • Valid driver's license
  • Preference will be given to candidates with military experience and/or experience working with veterans

 

Supplemental Information

This part-time administrative position is grant-funded and does not include a benefits package. This position is scheduled to work 20 hours per week, and may be required to periodically work evenings and weekends. Some local travel is required.
