Position Summary

DESCRIPTION:
The Program Director – Doctorate of Education will lead the College's Doctorate of Education Program including; develop all program policies, supervise the development of the doctoral curriculum, review applications, advise students, and engage in all necessary aspects of student recruitment and enrollment. The position also carries an expectation of securing the necessary approvals to award the Superintendent's Letter of Eligibility as a track within the doctoral curriculum.

This position will include an annual 6-credit (2 course) instruction load. These courses may be taught in the fall, spring, or summer term and at either the masters or doctoral level. No overload teaching is permitted for the occupant of this position.

The position is expected to work no more than 28 hours/week, which includes their teaching load.

OUTCOMES:
The position will allow the college to better serve adult learners and develop the infrastructure to support as we reach new audiences through marketing, student word-of-mouth, and new partner development.

Essential Functions
  • Supervising development of initial curriculum. (15%)
  • Leadership regarding curriculum or programs, including scheduling, budgeting, and continuous improvement. (15%)
  • Overseeing the development of the Applied Research Capstone. (10%)
  • Managing Applied Research Capstone supervision, student support, and subject matter experts. (10%)
  • Outcomes assessment and reporting. (5%)
  • Student admissions, advising and recruitment. (15%)
  • Recruitment, supervision, faculty development, and evaluation of part-time faculty. (5%)
  • Supervising staff, managing facilities, and working with external constituents. (10%)
  • Periodic revision of sections of the College Catalog relating to your program. (5%)
  • Assisting in the development of the materials necessary to earn PDE approval to award the Superintendents Letter of Eligibility at York College of Pennsylvania. (5%)
  • Prepare the curriculum and accreditation materials necessary to petition the Pennsylvania Department of Education to award the Superintendents Letter of Eligibility credential within the doctoral program. (5%)
Experience and Education Required
  • A doctoral degree with active PA Superintendent Letter of Eligibility.
  • 10 years of experience as a leader in a school or organization.
  • 5 years of experience as a senior administrator in a school or organization.
  • Experience in accreditation and/or curriculum development. (preferred)
  • Participation in independent, state, and/or federal initiatives and grants. (preferred)
  • Experience supporting graduate student scholarship. (preferred)
  • Potential for scholarly work, either peer-reviewed or practical. (preferred)
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Evidence of capacity to design and deliver high-quality graduate instruction.
  • Evidence of capacity to support practical student research and assessment.
  • Experience working in settings with students and communities from diverse backgrounds and a demonstrated commitment to improving access and opportunity for underrepresented individuals in PK-12 educational settings.
  • Evidence of sustained engagement with local education and/or non-profit organizations in the region.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to work with students, community members, faculty, and staff.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
